Resumo

2020 we will be on-line!

Due to the corona virus pandemic, we will deliver our summer school through online and remote instruction. Live sessions with experts and practitioners will be held from early afternoon till late afternoon (Lisbon Time, GMT +1). The sessions will be also recorded and made available for later viewing (on request). Individual small exercises will be given every day, and an exam will be offered to those who wish to earn the credits.

You can check on the new program here.

Fees will be reduced (see below), and students who have already registered can choose to be automatically registered for next year's summer school (June-July 2021) instead of attending the 2020 online edition. This option does not apply to students who have received grants as the grants are not transferable due to the budgets of the institutions who made them available.
If you register between 20 April and 1 June 2020 you are registering for the on-line version, and will not be transferred to 2021.

Ten-day course in Lisbon involving scientific experts, praticioners, EMCDDA experts and invited keynote speakers

Presentation
This two-week summer school prepares professionals and students to meet the complex policy challenges that face Europe in the field of drugs. Involving scientific experts from the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), but also university professors and policy-makers, it provides a multi-disciplinary and inclusive approach to the study of the drug problem in Europe and beyond. As this summer school will give 6 ECTS credits for its courses, students can easily transfer credits to other European universities using the ECTS system. Credits will be attributed formally to post graduate students (Master and PHD), but it is possible to allow undergraduate to use these credits in their home universities.

Credits and Requirements

This European Summer School will give ECTS credits for its courses. Students can easily transfer credits to other European universities using the ECTS system. Credits will be attributed formally to postgraduate students (Masters and Ph.D.), but it is possible to allow undergraduates to use these credits in their home universities. As one credit represents around 25 to 30 working hours, 6 credits will be attributed to those participating in the summer school, provided that they are evaluated. In order to comply with the working hours requested, students are required to do ahead of time the assigned readings; and – for those who volunteer and/or are selected - to make a short presentation about their research / expertise.
A Multiple Choice Questionnaire (MCQ) will be required at the end of the summer school, including questions on class content, class discussions and readings (70% of final score). For those who want to be formally evaluated, ISCTE-IUL will issue a Specialized Studies Diploma with the final grade - if they successfully concluded.
Students may also require attendance certificates.

Scholarships

ISCTE-IUL offers five scholarships covering 50% of the standard fees to eligible candidates. Scholarships are attributed on the basis of merit (40 %), travel costs (20 %), and the GDP of the candidate's country of residence (40 %). Applications for scholarships are open during the first phase of registration only.

Deadline: In order to be considered, candidates must fill the EDSS application form by 3 February 2020 in FÉNIX platform. All candidates that submit their application during the 1st phase will be eligible.

The University will inform the candidates selected, by email, by 10 February 2020

COVID-19 PANDEMIC OUTBREAK

As of today, it is expected that by the end of June there will be the conditions for the normal realization of the course. However, a reassessment of the situation will take place in the third week of May.
